Jacqueline Thompson is following in the footsteps of the American singers of the Golden Age. A versatile performer, she has succeeded in a broad range of styles including opera, operetta, concert, and musical theater. She was a winner of the Emerging Artists Business Committee for the Arts in New York City and began the Fall season with a gala concert for Bohème Opera of New Jersey and with a concert at the Lincoln Center Library. She continues as a member of Encores in NYC performing in Hammersteins and Kerns Music in the Air. In May she performs as soloist in Mozarts Mass in C minor and Mendelssohns Psalm 42 with the Fairfield County Chorale and the Westchester Choral Society. In 2009 Ms. Thompson will sing the title role in Massenets Manon at Opera in the Heights in Texas and in the fall of 2010 she returns to Opera in the Heights to sing Leïla in Les pêcheurs de perles.
After her successful portrayal of Musetta in La Bohème under the baton of Maestro Anton Coppola with Metro Lyric Opera of New Jersey, Jacqueline made her Treasure Coast Opera debut in the same role and returned the following season for Adina in L'Elisir d'Amore. She was featured in a series of composers concerts at both Queens College and Grace Church in Brooklyn singing the music of Martin Halpern and Frank Retzel, performed in the opening gala for Opera at Florham in New Jersey and sang a solo concert for the Rochester Choral Society. She performed Samuel Barbers Knoxville: Summer of 1915 with Hunter Symphony in New York and returned to the Encores Series for performances of Irving Berlins Face the Music; in which, she also appears on the cast album for DRG. She was won second place in the Little Italy Vocal Competition in New York City and has returned there frequently to perform at the Christmas Tree Lighting event and as a featured soloist for the San Gennaro Festival.
In recent seasons she sang the title role of Handels Athalia in collaboration with the Transfiguration Ensemble and the Queens Chamber Band. Hilda in the world premier of Martin Halperns The Scaffolding at the Theatre for the New City. After a tremendous success singing the title role of Lucia di Lammermoor with Opera in the Heights, she was invited to sing the complete Mad Scene at the Summer Opera Gala with the Utah Festival Opera Orchestra. Other recent credits include: an appearance as the soprano soloist with the Lumina String Quartets world premier of Mary-Carol Warwicks Quintessence, and performed Strauss Frühling Stimmer and Grustna Mne from Russlan and Lydmilla with the Columbus Symphony. Jacqueline was featured in Indianapolis Symphony Orchestras Yultide Celebration concerts, and sang Valencienne in The Merry Widow with the Jefferson Performing Arts Society. She has sung Serpina in La Serva Padrona with Palm Beach Opera under the direction of Maestro Anton Guadagno, Second Lady in The Magic Flute with Kentucky Opera, Laurey in Oklahoma! with the Brevard Music Festival, and Zerlina in Don Giovanni with the Lansing Opera Company. As an oratorio soloist she has sung Kodalys Te Deum, Poulencs Gloria, and Handels Messiah. She has also appeared as a soprano soloist in pops concerts with Palm Beach Opera, Ocean City Pops Orchestra, Brevard Music Festival Orchestra, Louisville Orchestra and Kentucky Center for the Arts.
Ms. Thompson received a Masters in Music from Indiana University and a Bachelors of Music from University of Louisville.
